More Than Just Care - A Partner Who Gets It
My name is Allyson Winkles, and I know firsthand that caring for a child or young adult with special needs is not just a series of tasks — it is a journey that requires patience, understanding, and real heart. I have been a nurse for over seven years, working both at the bedside in the ER and in skilled nursing with Home Health. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and maintain BLS and PALS certifications. My specialized training includes pediatric assessment, respiratory and cardiac management, seizure recognition and response, infection prevention in the home setting, medication administration and caregiver education, infusion therapy, tracheostomy and ventilator care, as well as wound and gastrostomy tube management. Additionally, I have a Masters in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication.
But my greatest teacher is my son. He is non‑verbal, level 3 autistic, who uses an Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) device, and is the absolute light of my life. Navigating his diagnosis opened my eyes to how much I didn’t know. There were moments when I felt overwhelmed, moments when I wished someone could guide me, reassure me, or simply give me a breath of relief when things were tough.
I founded Anchor & Aid Respite Care because no family should have to walk that path alone. You deserve more than a provider — you deserve a partner who sees the whole picture. My mission is to bring clinical expertise into your home with the compassion, safety, and understanding I once needed myself. I am here to support your loved one with skilled, heartfelt care so you can finally take a breath and find the peace of mind you deserve.
“I live for those forehead kisses—the quiet magic where our souls touch and love needs no words.”
